Solutions

Expert Solution

Q1) Metabolic pathway is a series of chemical reactions in a cell which are interdependent, they build or breakdowns molecules for their cellular processes. These reactions takes place with the help of various enzymes.

In this process the initial substrate is converted into a product with the help of an enzyme in a pathway than the product of the first reaction becomes the substrate of the second reaction like this the product of the second reaction becomes the substrate of the third reaction. These processes takes place with the help of enzymes, which catalyse the reactions and helps the reaction to proceed quickly and efficiently.

So option-5 that is enzymes is the correct answer.

For the above question which says each step of the metabolic pathways occurs with the help of a specific molecular machine, these mini machines are called enzymes which control the metabolic pathway.

Q20) option-1 says – Autotroph- These are organisms which obtain carbon for their requirement from carbon-dioxide found in the air. So this is not the correct option.

Option-2-Methanotroph- These are the prokaryotes which use methane as their source of carbon and energy, so this is also not the correct option.

Option-3 – Heterotroph- These are the organisms which depend for its carbon requirement on organic compounds. So this is the correct answer.

Option-4- Chemotrophs - These are the organisms which obtain energy by oxidation of inorganic molecules in their environment like iron, magnesium etc. some bacteria and fungi are of this type. So this cannot be the answer.

Option-5-Phototrophs- They use light as their source of energy.

Option-3 that is Heterotroph is the correct answer.
