Metaphysics concerns inquiries into the nature of reality. Both Plato and Descartes develop metaphysical systems that are classified as dualisms. Likewise both are considered to be metaphysical realists, which means that there is a reality external to the influence of the human mind. Plato believes that reality is composed of a realm of becoming that is constantly changing and a realm of being that contains eternal, unchanging Forms that infuse the world of becoming. Human beings, according to Plato, are an amalgam of a material body that constantly changes and an immortal psyche. A little more than two thousand years later, Descartes will propose that all reality is composed of two substances---body and mind. The Matrix films consider both Platonic and Cartesian dualisms. What is the appeal of a dualistic metaphysics? Do you find it plausible? Why or why not? Are there particular implications that add credence to your position?
Dualistic metaphysics says that human being is the combination of two states- material or physical state and immeterial or spiritual state. There is the combination of two states on human being. They are guided by both physical and mental needs. In every step man feels the two states.
It is absolutely true what the two philosophers said. We always feel the existence of soul and its impact in behavior and attitudes. In our family we are related with each other by mental bond and such mental bond is expressed through our outward behaviour. We bear humanity that includes love, wisedom, affection, pity etc. These abstract feelings are revealed through our outward behaviour. In the society we are related to various persons with good fwwling and friendly ways. Our balanced mentality helps us to work and adjustment.
Besides, man is guided by his own psychology. Varuous environmental factors bring his psychological change. Even man is victim of many psychological disorder. Various concepts are originated in the brain. Mind is totally controlled by brain. Man without mind or spirit is nothing. Descaretes says that we exist because we can think. We have a self and the realization of self generates various thinkings.
Man is guided by both physical and psychological needs. His anger, emotion, love, passion etc are the product of his spirits. Such mental characteristics are expressed through his interactions with others.
