Broadband communication system

Broadband communications is a technology with transmission over a telephone line. Broadband transmission systems provide different channels for data transmissions in multiple directions and to many different users. For example, the coaxial CATV system is a broadband system that is used to deliver many tv channels using the same cable. In addition, it primarily provides Internet access for home users in different frequency range.

It allows communication over a range of frequencies divided into multiple independent channels for the simultaneous transmission of varying signals. It also allows data as well as media to be transmitted over the same signal.

Quality of service in Broadband systems

There are basically two ways to provide QoS guarantees in broadband networks.

1.The first way is to provide a lots of resources to the network, that are enough to meet the expected peak demand and even leaves a substantial safety margin just in case.

2.The second was is to make users reservations, and accept the reservations only if the routers are able to serve those reservations reliably otherwise reject those.
