Christina is a 17-year-old gravida 1, para 1 who gave birth to a healthy 7-lb boy yesterday. She is very motivated to breastfeed him but is having nipple soreness. She also has to go back to school in 6 weeks to finish her semester and graduate from high school.

Answer 1) methods to relieve soreness of nipple

A) apply some breast milk on nipple and allow it to dry on it as breast milk contain natural skin softner and some antibodies to fight with infection and also keep nipple heathy and prevent damage .

B) let nipple to air dry after every feeding as this prevent irritation caused by cloth rubbing.

C) apply modified lanolin or other specially formulated creams or ointment which are made with hypoallergenic ingredients to prevent any Allergy .

D) to reduce breast pain , apply cool compression to the nipple after every breastfeeding also some gel pads are useful in sore breast , use some breast shield to prevent contact between breast and cloth

E) use good breast support which help in relieving pain of nipple.

F) check baby tongue for short frenulum as it can limit baby tongue movement and cause pain
