The current most popular thing going on in the stock market is fiasco happened before the IPO of the WE WORK. We work is a US based real estate company which focuses on providing shared working spaces for tech-startups and other companies. It had filed to go for IPO in august 2019. The valuation of the compnay was done around 47 billion dollar, one of the highest in the history of IPO. Though We Work claims to be a tech- company, not a real estate company. The major investors in the company are famous names like J P Morgan, Softbank and also the former CEO Adam Neumann (He was removed from the CEO position by the board following this IPO failure. Prior to this IPO whe the softbank made investment in the we work, it was valued at around 47 billion dollar but suddenly it's valuation went down as low as 12 billion dollar. It had to differ its IPO. Failure of the IPO was said to because of the many reasons like its business models, it's lease agreement like long term lease liabilities and short term revenue contract, corporate governance lapses, and questionable party transaction between the firm and it's CEO. A company which was highly valued is suddenly looking to sell assets and raise money to stay afloat.
