Briefly discuss how Cayman’s environment (social/cultural) have contributed to its obesity problem. Be as specific as possible in your examples. .
Cayman is one of the islands in Caribbean countries which is mostly affected with the social issue of Obesity. Statistics about the rate of obesity among children and adults in the Cayman Islands and the United States are skocking. In Cayman's island, 30% adults are obese and 40% are overweight. One third of school going children are either overweight or obese. Poor diet and lack of physical exercise plays a major role in developing Obesity in Cayman's island. And the other most common cause is consuming high calorie food than the required quantity. Other factors include poor lifestyle choice, too little sleep, genetic contribution and other medical conditions (Hypothyroidism). Food and beverage industry has a major hindrance in solving obesity problems in Cayman's island.Sea food, red meat, low fiber rich food are the main diet habit of residents of Cayman. sugar consumption is much higher compared to other near by native region, this also contributes to obesity. Most of them are immigrants and is a tourist attraction. They mostly follow Jamaican cuisine which is fat rich diet. One of the maoin source of income is brewery and most of them consume it.Other food materials are imported to the island and hence the preservatives on them is yet another cause for their obesity
