SHOW WORK: You drive your car up a constant slope for 21200 feet. In the process, you gain 1320 feet of vertical elevation. What is the angle of this slope?

Solutions

Expert Solution

when a car is driven to a constant slope, diagramatically it is shown below:

car is driven through a constant slope for distance, AC= 21200 feet

vertical distance travelled , AB = 1320 feet

angle of slope, = ,say

From above right trangle ABC,

           Sin = AB / AC = 1320 feet 21200 feet

                   Sin = 1320 21200 = 0.0622

                           = Sin-1( 0.0622)

                             = 3.566 (approx)

              Angle of slope, = 3.566 (approx)

You exert a constant force of 20N up the slope on a 20kg block sitting on a slope of an angle 45 degrees with a coefficient of static friction of .3 and a coefficient of kinetic friction or .15. Will the block move? If so, what will it's acceleration be once it's moving?

Did you drive to work or school today? When you are driving at a constant speed, the amount of gas left in the tank can typically be modeled by a linear equation. The equation y = -2x + 15 would represent a car that has a full 15-gallon tank and burns 2 gallons of gas an hour when x is the number of hours driven and y is the amount of gas in the tank. Find a linear relationship (equation)...

Calculate the maximum acceleration of a car with four wheel drive that is heading up a 8° slope (one that makes an angle of 8° with the horizontal) under the following road conditions. Assume that the static coefficient of friction is involved--that is, the tires are not allowed to slip during the acceleration. Randy wants to either ride share to work or drive his own car to work, but it is impossible for Randy to ride share and drive his own car in one trip. If the probability that Randy ride shares is 0.22, and the probability that Randy drives his own car is 0.42, what is the probability that Randy ride shares or drives his own car to work? Provide your answer below

You are in your car A on the 407 driving at a constant velocity ~vA = (vA, 0, 0) and next to it another car (B) takes the exit ramp on one of Toronto’s huge exchangers to get onto the 404. For consistency we set the two cars to start at (0, 0, 0) at t = 0 and car B turns in the positive y direction. The exchanger can be seen as a quarter circle of radius R. 1....
