If part of the purpose of Reconstruction was to heal sectional bitterness, to what extent was it a success with regard to southern whites?

The supremacy of of southern whites had ended after the civil war.they had held black people in slavery for many years. Now, the slaves were getting to enjoy a small taste of freedom. Also, these wars had caused so much death and destruction there had been put many steps to heal biterness as North showed little sympathy when the fighting stopped towards the Southern.but the Southern organized themselves on conventions to form new governments. And show their subjugation towards north

Many of these new state officials were dishonest. They began using their power to domicile them. The people were struggling to create a new life in the land of their former owners

The reconstruction in the South was mixed. Many southerners believe, even today, that reconstruction was a bitter time of defeat.and others say this period after the Civil War was a necessary step in creating a different kind of South from the one which had existed before.

As the laws were made to end the slavery in the United States.but the southern wants to play thier master grades we found that the reconstruction steps had only put end of some bitterness while it does not end its roots
