The book is Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility CSR,
FAIR WAGE:
A fair wage is the wage that is reasonable for the type of job being done. A fair wage is different in jobs which require skills, talent and expertise while it is different for a job in which labourus work is to be done. Thats why different jobs have different wages.
A wage should be adequate according to the work done to be called as a fair wage. However there are Government laws to ensure a minimum wage for labours(that is mostly calles minimum wage) but there are no laws to ensure the the employees are getting fair wage based on their skills and expertise.
Fair:
The word fair means without any unbiased or trustworthy. Fair word can also be said as unprejudiced. Fair means unprejudiced.
In Fair wage, fair means to give wage to the employees without any feeling of cheating. Thus the employer should have to provide fair wages to its employees to maintain the trust of his employees.
I have worked as a Procurement Manager. My wages were very high (about $30 per hour) and I don't think that i have worked harder on getting such a high wages. This is because of my high expertise, skills and a valued position in the organisation. I had to do the mind work only in which i was already expertised and loved to do that.
