11. Personality is predictive of leader effectiveness. Discuss each correlation coefficient below; make sure to identify/explain the direction of each relationship and each relationship’s magnitude (use Cohen, 1992). (4 points)
Leader Effectiveness |
|
Extraversion |
r = .46 |
Agreeableness |
r = .18 |
Conscientiousness |
r = .35 |
Neuroticism |
r = -.18 |
Firstly we can observe that there is a positive correlation of extraversion(coalition coefficient of 0.46) with leadership effectiveness.
A positive correlation also exists between leadership effectiveness and conscientiousness with correlation coefficient of 0.36
But from correlation coefficients we can observe is that the correlation is stronger in case of extraversion than conscientiousness.
Whereas if we observe agreeableness there also exist an positive correlation with leadership effectiveness with coefficient of 0.18 but the relationship is stronger in case of extraversion and conscientiousness than in case of agreeableness.
There exists a negative relationship between neuroticism and leadership effectiveness with coefficient of-0.18. This indicates that if neuroticism increases leadership effectiveness decreases.
The positive correlation indicates that leadership effectiveness increases of the traits increases.
