Sometimes two skydivers share one parachute. How much larger is going to be their speed when they touch the ground compared to a single skydiver? Assume that both skydivers have the same weight.
In general the drag force is proportional to the square of the velocity for air.
Drag Force ∝ v2
for a safe landing Drag force should be equal to weight of skydriver
Dragg Force = Weight
Now weight in first case = w (one skydriver)
Weight in second case = 2w (two skydriver)
So the Dragg force will be double for balancing
so Dragg Force ∝( v2 )first
2 x Dragg Force ∝( v2 )second
Hence velocity i n second case of two skydriver will square root
of 2 times of velocity in first case of one skydriver
