Disease Name: Cholera. The disease has an outbreak during the period (1832-1851). The pandemic episode occurred multiple times in the history. Still, it is a major problem in most part of the world. It spreads mainly due to contaminated water. Around 150,000 cases are reported every year by WHO.
It is an infectious disease that causes watery diarrhea, loss of fluid and electrolyte balance, and dehydration.
Infectious Agent: The infectious agent is the bacterium Vibrio Cholera.
Mode of Transmission: It is mainly transmitted through food or water contaminated by feces (fecal-oral route).
Signs and Symptoms:
Treatment: Give Oral Rehydration Therapy to maintain hydration of the patient. Give enough water mixed with salt and water. In severe cases, replace the fluid through intravenous therapy. Prescribe Antibiotics and antidiarrheal medication as necessary.
