We all use shortcuts in making judgments about others. (I.e., assuming a woman in scrubs is a nurse, and a man in scrubs is a doctor.) As the world continues to get ‘flatter” and diversity increases do you think this will get better or worse? Why? How will you work to try to minimalize this in your own life? Include stories about a few times you have taken shortcuts to make judgments - either in your professional life or your personal life - and what the results were. Also share stories about times you were the one being judged and what the outcome of this was.

I think as diversity increases, people will stop making quick judgements about others as they will have no idea what the other person is based on their looks or appearance.

I have judged many people of ill character such as, once when taking a cab i looked at the person and he did not smile and he had an unshaved beard and looked rough. So i thought that this person may not be of good character, but after travelling with him i realised that he was a good person. Another instance was when i hired an innocent looking person as my assistant, believing hat his baby features are a sign of obedience and innocence, but later on it turned out that he was insincere towards his word and also his previous track was not good.

I also have been judged on few occasion with the way i present myself, once at a car retail place, the salesperson was not interested in my has he thought i am a college student and cannot afford a car, but actually i wasn't a college student, he assumed it based on my dressing. Another instance was when i was a bit overdressed at an even and all the people thought that i was very rich etc. I will work to minimise this shortcuts by not judging people on their appearance, race religion and other such factors. Ans also will keep an open mind when interacting with people.
