2.2 Describe four types of non-probability sampling. (8)

2.3 Critically analyze the principle of sampling. (12)

Solutions

Expert Solution

2.1 -

Sampling such a population is necessary because it provides error minimisation from the despondence as a large number of population is there in the sampling.

Sampling a population provides more attainable goal of sampling process.

Sampling such a population is also very helpful in reducing the cost of sampling and provide a greater flexibility.

2.2 - Subjective judgement is there in non probability sampling processes.

Types of Non - probability samplings -

  1. Convenience sampling - in this type of sampling researcher can collect sample from anywhere where the researcher find more convenience and easier access.
  2. Purposive sampling - in which type of sampling process in in researcher collect samples based on his knowledge and study itself. The samples for purposive sampling have some special purpose for being sampled and researched.
  3. Quota sampling - in this type of sampling process, researcher set some quotas based on demographics information.
  4. Snow ball sampling - in this type of sampling process, researchers collect their sample from some hidden sources and hard to reach, like drug addicts samples.

2.3 -

There are two important principles of sampling -

  1. Principle of statistical regularity - according to this principle, whenever a large number of samples are being selected at random from any population then it is more likely to possess the same characteristics of the sample in all over the population.
  2. Principle of inertia of large numbers - according to this principle, the larger the size of the sample of the population for the sampling process, more accurate the conclusion will be for that sampling.

So, both of the principles of sampling talks about the size of the samples which tells that the more the sample size will, the more accurate the sampling be.
