1. What advice does the textbook provide to determine a source as credible?
An author's reputation is very critical when assessing the accuracy of the documents that you have found and are considering using them for your research project. There are many ways to evaluate if an author is trustworthy according to source form. The techniques used for books, posts, and blogs can, however, also be used for other outlets. If you want to know that a book author is trustworthy, review the book's foreword / preface / introduction and back cover. Usually these pages contain material on the credentials / areas of experience of the speaker etc.
Often, you'll want to analyze the source material and how it suits the knowledge needs. Identify its importance to the subject, and whether it discusses the subject or not. Also, if you are searching for a report that addresses the matter in detail, make sure it contains enough information. In addition, decide if the website contains all the details you may need. If you need to include graphs or charts in your paper, for example, try finding a source that provides these.
