what is Pcod explain it?
PCOD is known as polycystic ovarian disease.
It is a hormonal disorder in which there are a number of small cysts present in the ovaries, which affects hormonal production. In this case, estrogen and progesterone production is disturbed and ovaries start to increase the production of androgens(male hormone) which collectively affects the menstrual cycle.
10% of the world's women population has PCOD. Sometimes it causes little to no symptoms so 70% of women with PCOD are undiagnosed.
It Normally called PCOS(Polycystic ovarian syndrome) because it produces a group of symptoms
1. Cyst present in the ovaries
2. Hormonal abnormalities (low level of estrogen and progesterone and high level of androgens(male hormone))
3. Irregular menstrual periods

- Genetic factors
- Infection and inflammation ovaries
- Diabetes
Signs and Symptoms
- Irregular menstrual periods
- Abdominal pain
- Abnormal hair growth
- Heavy menstrual bleeding
- Weight gain
Later it can cause Infertility and Mental illness
