Expert Solution

Both of the Bush Presidents pushed for oil drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. Yes, it is good idea bcause they donot allow to drill the whole widlife refuge instead a portion of it, which could help them by getting oil for the country and also in his statement he mention with the millions being earned from it will be used in royalties, bidding higher for wildlife conservation and also for buying the heat for the poor , either in the form of food, home shelter, clothes, etc. but further when they ask to explore more then it will leave ANWR to great threat.

Above this we cannot forget the cost what the wildlife refuge is going to pay as they play a vital role mainly in safeguarding the habitat of specific species and conserving the biodiversity.

They plays vital role in :

  • safeguaring home shelter and habitat of endemic species.
  • protect the natural beauty
  • protect the species to extinct
  • also protect few tribals leaving in their own terms
  • conservation of nature

On the other hand there is urgent need to look at the availability of oil supplies:

according to stats data, the world had 1.7297 trillion barrels of crude oil remaining at the end of 2018

where as demand per day is 99.3 million barrels in 2018 which is increasing every year.

which is making our supplies to decrease to meet the actual demand of oil.

according to the HUBBERT PEAK THEORY oil production is bell shape curve and after a peak it starting depleting .

The Bush Oil Company is deciding whether to drill for oil on a tract of land that the company owns. The company estimates that the project will cost $6 million today. Bush estimates that once drilled, the oil will generate positive cash flows of $3.9 million a year at the end of each of the next 4 years. Although the company is fairly confident about its cash flow forecast, it recognizes that if it waits 2 years, it will have...

Deep Sea Drilling is evaluating drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico. It will cost $830 million to buy an oil rig. Drilling would start immediately. The company has a cost of capital of 9%. There is a 50% probability that the new well will be successful, in which case the free cash flow from the well will be $200 million per year for 20 years. Otherwise, it will only generate $40 million per year for 10 years. Part...

Even before the “Ownership Society” programs of Presidents Clinton and Bush, the federal government was heavily involved in the housing market, primarily in the form of tax deductions for mortgage interest payments. In a study just prior to the foreclosure crisis starting in 2008, the Urban Institute stated about 80% of the estimated $200 billion of federal housing subsidies consisted of tax breaks (mainly deductions for mortgage interest payments). Samples indicated that federal housing benefits average $8,268 for those with...

Mobile Oil Company The Mobile Oil company owns land in Alaska that might contain natural oil. The current value of the land is worth $90,000. However, if natural oil is present at the site, the oil will be worth $800,000. If the company decides to extract the oil from the land, the company will have to pay $100,000 in drilling costs. Before drilling, the company has an option to carry out a seismic survey at the proposed drilling site. If...

Drilling down beneath a lake in Alaska yields chemical evidence of past changes in climate. Biological silicon, left by the skeletons of single-celled creatures called diatoms, measures the abundance of life in the lake. A rather complex variable based on the ratio of certain isotopes relative to ocean water gives an indirect measure of moisture, mostly from snow. As we drill down, we look farther into the past. Here are data from 2300 to 12,000 years ago: Isotope (%) Silicon...
