Here I have included story related my father
Mr.Joseph, 57 yrs presents to the emergency department with history of fall with complaints sweelling and pain over the right leg ,The doctor confirmed the diagnosis after x-ray is fracture on Rit leg (Spiral fracture)
The affected bone is tibia
The type of fracture closed spiral fracture
Treatment
The treatment of the fracture include
Reduction
Reduction of the fracture refers to the restoration of fracture fragments to anatomic alignment and rotation
Open reduction
It is a surgical procedure approach in which the fracture fragments are reduced external or internal fixation devices(such as pins,metals,screw,wire,nails,rids)hold the fragments bone untile restore the normal position.
Here patient open reduction with internal fixation was done
Immobilisation
Immobilisation may be accomplished by internal or external fixation.
Methods of external fixation include bandage,caste ,splints,continuous traction and external fixatior.
Metal implants used for internal fixation sereve as internal splint to immobilise the fracture.
Here patient had internal fixation with splint helps to immobilise the fractured area.
Traction
Traction including use of weights,ropes and pulleys to apply force to tissue sorrounding a broken bone
Here the traction used for patient is skeletal traction.
Pain management
Administered Opioid analgesics examples :Injection tramadol.
Prognosis
He had good prognosis after the reduction surgery and along with traction,the symptoms are subsided after few weeks,the pain ,swelling and associated symptoms are reduced.
