Expert Solution

It has been claimed that rate of juvenile incarceration is decreasing. It is the data of year 2015 that out of 1 lakh youth only 150 were incarcerated. It is also being claimed that rate of juvenile incarceration differs and it remains based on race and ethnicity.

It is being thought that almost 10000 juveniles are in adult prisons. In USA, New York and Florida are two famous states which are in top ten cities in terms of juvenile incarceration. Some people claim that if incarceration rate is being increased then there may be a decline in crime rate. Truth does not lie in same manner.

It has been observed that if a person stays longer in jail then chances of re-offending increases multiple times. Many states like California has declared that children below the age 12 can not be incarcerated but many states do not have any such provisions.

This factor also affect the incarceration rates. Some people say that having close eyes on youth's activities can be a better solution than providing incarceration. Once they go to jail then they feel a criminal tag on their shoulders.

It affect them mentally and leading a normal life may become a tedious task for them. There is a need to develop better alternative system so that an anarchy free society can be created.
