Expert Solution

Some of the benefits of using the railroads are:

  1. One of the important benefit of using the railroads is that you can transport the large capacity.Means large quantity of goods can be transported for a long distance.
  2. The operation cost of the railroads id quite less.
  3. Railroads are flexible in nature.Means you can transport different varieties of merchandise.
  4. As compare to the road transport/trucking,it creates less noise pollution and avoids the traffic.
  5. The chances of accident and breakdowns is less as compare to trucking.

Some of the benefits of using the Motor Carrier/trucking are:

  1. As compare to railroad,Sometimes Motor Carrier takes less time to transport the goods.
  2. It can deliver the door to door services.which is not in the railroads.
  3. It is faster for the short distance.Which take less cost as compare to railroads.
  4. Motor Carrier can deliver the product at any place or in any time.
  5. Less manpower needed.

Some of the major differentiate between the railroads and Motor Carrier/trucking:

  1. One of the major difference between the railroads and Motor Carrier is time and cost. Railroads is lightly cheaper than the trucking and also for long distance railroads is beneficial to transport the heavy goods.
  2. The another major difference between the railroads and Motor Carrier is that railway can't transport the goods everywhere. You will defiantly need the trucking to transport the goods at a door step. So, we can say that to cover the long distance railroads is better.but for shorter distance trucking is best.
