The majority of people frequently experience the effects of memory distortions like this. Considering the prevalence these difficulties, please respond to the following; What memory improvement techniques have you found to be helpful in your everyday life? What new strategies do you plan to try? As an eyewitness to a crime, how could you use information from to improve your memory for specific details?
I frequently use acronyms to remember things. To create acronyms, I take the list of words or facts that I want to remember and put them in an order so that the first letters of each word spell a real word or a made-up word. This ensures that I don’t miss out remembering any information. An alternative strategy I would like to use is creating a story of the words to remember, in the order it is listed. This would also encourage me to be more imaginative. I can add vivid details in order to string together all the items in a list into a meaningful pattern.
When it comes to improving eyewitness memory, one thing I can do is immediately make note of all the details I perceived about the event. From the information I was able to gather from the readings, I realised that with the passage of time, the memory of an event becomes distorted and inaccurate. Therefore, writing down the details as soon as the event has finished would ensure that maintain objectivity as much as I can.
