Two main types of Disruptive innovation

Low end disruption: At the low end of the market, customers are interested in products with lesser price and satisfactory performance. The focus of the business is on the low end of an established market.

Discount retailing and Korean automakers' entry into North America are examples of Low end disruption. Although they did not create any new market, they offered low-cost products which ultimately attracted a large number of customers.

New market disruption is said to target non consumers because these products are so much affordable to own and simpler to use that a whole new population of people begin to own and use the products.

The personal computer is a very good example of New market disruption because their initial customers were new consumers and they did not own or use a computer previously.
