Pattern of health perception and health management: The children say they are sick when they feel bad . The health of the child depends on care givers. Activities like brushing teeth, washing hands can be taught by parents to promote health Preschooler can verbalize pain. They have understanding to identify their external body parts but internal parts seems to be hollow for them. They are curious about their body. School children knows how their body functions.They understand the meaning of health and its importance. Culture influences their perception about health.
Nutritional -Metabolic pattern: They have started feeding themselves with use of spoon and cup to drink water. Meal time can be used to practice their individual control. Preschool children enjoy cooking meals with their family. They can do simple task like washing an apple.Parents should give healthy snacks to their child. School aged children should receive 1200 kcal. They can differntiates between healthy and unhealthy foods.
Pattern of elimination Toilet training can be started. Children should be checked for dryness every 2 hrs. Children should use toilet without any problem. They may forget to flush toilet but should be taught importance of hygiene. Bowel and bladder control is developed. They keep their bathroom use private.
Pattern of activity and exercise They learn new skills by doing again and again. They progress from their initial walking running to riding their tricycle. They are very creative, may have imaginary friend, begans to move out for playing and socializes more with others. Physical activity is important to them. Stay highly active. Many motor skill changes that helps them to get involved in sports and other physical activity.
Cognitive and perceptual pattern: They learn about new objects, its use and how to use it independently. They can also remember the name of certain objects. They also able to learn about their body parts. Their play is related to real life events, tend to socialize more. Ask lot of questions about day to day activities. They begin to differentiate between right and wrong. They start understanding others feeling.Their environment begins to effect them negatively or positively.
Pattern of sleep and rest Toddlers may need only 12 hrs of sleep with 1-2 naps during day. They may stall the time for sleep by asking for water and other things May have sleep of 8-12 hrs of sleep. May develop the habit of reading books before sleeping.Naps become less frequent They donot take naps during day. They take 8-12 of sleep. Sleep is difficult at this age.
Pattern of self perception and self concept: There perception is based on what they see and hear. They are able to respond to their name and to feed themselves. Social acceptance makes them feel successful. They begin to develop likes and dislikes about dressing and dresses themselves. They should have good self esteem. They want to master whatever they do and is competitive.
Role relationship pattern They fear the people who are vstrangers to them but like the familiar once. They begin to show care towards their loved ones and understand the differences in genders. They tend to make friends from outside the family. They start understanding their role in family and become more responsible.
Sexuality- reproductive pattern: Masturbation is common. They are curious about their body. They have understanding about gender differences and do have curiorsity about opposite sex. They are curious about sex but should be well educated. Puberty begins.
Pattern of coping and stress tolerance They will cope to any situations. They show tantrums and throw things. May use dolls to make sense of security.They take the help of their parents to do certain activities they like.

They use music or talking to friends when have to cope with stressful situation or problems of school,sports or family issue.
