6 people were asked about the time in a week they spend in doing social work in their community. They said 6, 19, 10, 5, 12, 10 hours, respectively. Calculate the average time (or mean time) in a week spent by them in social work.
FORMULA OF THE MEAN -
Mean = Sum of all the observation / Total number of observations.
In our problem,
Total number of observations = 6
(Since 6 people has been asked about the social work).
And, also
Sum of all the observations = 6+19++10+5+12+10 = 62
Now, substitute these values in the formula of the mean we get,
Mean = 62/6
Mean = 10.33
Hence, the average time spent by them in social work in a week is 10.33.
