Expert Solution

Childhood trauma are important factor for emotional problem . Resolving childhood trauma has been the long used method to treat emotional problem.

1)Benefits of focusing childhood trauma.

It helps understand the root cause . Trauma during childhood alters the brain size and function and makes person more to emotional problem. Once childhood trauma us understood then any therapy will be more effectively used to resolve emotional problem

Moreover, client also feel relaxed and his suppressed memory are brought to front and resolved thus relieving him from suppressed memories.

2) Drawbacks

Childhood trauma only disposes the person but real trigger of adult problem is immediate environmental factors. Many people who have suffered sase trauma , say abusive parenting, show different emotional stability. Thus, focusing on childhood compromises the insights of currents situation.

As highlighted by cognitive behavioral therapist , childhood trauma is not necessarily a precondition to resolve emotion problem. Current problems is more due to recent activities and less due to childhood trauma so one should focus more on environmental triggers than on childhood experiences.
