Based on your understanding of critical thinking and memory, describe one (1) flaw in Bruce's reasoning
BRUCE studied all the chapters concerned for 3 times each but
still performed poor in test . So he complained that there was
something wrong in Test which could not assess correctly. However,
one flaw is visible in his reasoning.
Reading of a chapter many times does not necessarily result in
permanent memory of something because Bruce may not be actively
exercising his brain. He may not be trying to fully understand the
context of the book, which would increase his chances of
memory.
Instead he is using his short-term memory to memorize the words on
each chapter,in hopes of recognizing and matching those words to
the question on the exam. This can be termed as Maintenance
rehearsal, which involves the rote repetition of the texts. usually
more effective for short-term memory. elaboration method of
encoding where one can associate the new items with materials that
have already been stored in his brain would have been more
effective as it will help encode the concepts into the long-term
memory.
