please explain whether popular culture or social structure is the root cause of the changes in the attitudes and practices of sexuality. Please include the meaning of gender within the context of pop culture.
It’s popular culture, especially the media in different forms spearheaded the changes in people’s attitude and practice of sexuality. What once considered as sin has become a normal act these days in terms of sexuality and that’s why we have male, female and LGBTQ classification with more emphasis on everyone’s rights in the society. Media as the popular culture brought out the plights of the common people and the oppressed gender’s desire to break out of the gender stereotypes. Under the popular culture gender was associated with the sex of the person. So, there were some restriction about what women should do at home and in the society, similarly there were certain roles that men were expected to do. Women were expected to bear children, be meek and look after the children and the household works while men were expected to be brave, work outside and provide for the family.
