Managing network performance is always a great challenge. This doubles when multiple point products are used to manage it. For this discussion, pick one of the following topics associated with network management and research it accordingly.
Your main post will describe how you will manage the network based on the topic you chose. Networking and server monitoring Bandwidth analysis Firewall-log management Configuration management IP address and switch-port management Fault management Assume the network you must manage belongs to a global business with thousands of employees across the world. List the topic of choice and include a summary of your management utilization.
Networking and Server Management:
Today technology plays important role in the management and development of business. Evolution of technology has a disruptive impact on business, therefore, it become really important for business to have the latest or UPTO date technology for efficient business development. One of the biggest challenges is repaid change in technology making existing technologies to be outdated or underperformed. Business is spending good amount to make their organization tech-savvy. For e.g. in banking industry focus has shifted from branch banking to net banking and now app-based banking.
One important challenge is to manage and storage of data.
Today’s networks need to support more traffic than ever, employees
can access services or data from desktops and mobile device and
other Internet of things devices. The organization needs to ensure
high network speed for a hassle-free experience and need better
servers for managing and storing data. Today storage does not
challenge but sending information to another location involves high
cost, there are various alternatives available to companies to
overcome this like could sever blockchain technology.
Network designs and Server support strategies need to be adjusted
to tackle these top challenges:
1.Poor network performance: that poor network performance is a top challenge this is not more traffic but is more traffic in all departments. Without the right equipment at endpoints and midpoints along the way, it’s impossible to provide the high-speed communication needed by today’s applications. Moreover, performance is not only just about speed but it is about reliability too. Network designs need to handle spikes in load and provide alternate routes to enable communication to continue even when a link fails. For example, social media and online sellers like Amazon need to ensure 24*7 access.
Security. Security is another top challenge. Because the perimeter of today’s network is unclear, blocking unauthorized outside traffic from the internal network isn’t adequate for protecting data. Many threats make it into the network when employees respond to a phishing email. Denial of service attacks only needs to attempt connections to succeed. Encryption helps protect traffic, but encryption can also make it harder to monitor network activity. There are many tools that can be used to improve network security but ensuring they work together and provide a comprehensive solution. As networks increase in size, overseeing the network configuration increases in difficulty. Devices can conflict with each other. It becomes challenging to keep the rules in server up to date as manually applying policies leads to errors and inconsistencies.
Cost: Available budget almost never meets the need for network services, especially when the network now needs to support not just traditional applications but also conventional business services like telephony and videoconferencing that require new levels of network quality.
Growth: All the other challenges would be easier to address if the network would stay the same but that is not the case. There is constant increase in the number of devices attached to the network and with every additional connection an additional potential point of failure.
Vendor Selection: For most of the organizations past architecture is built around the capabilities of the vendor. Bringing in the best solutions from today’s vendors means figuring out how to interoperate, integrate, and support multiple solutions, or figuring out how to tear out all of the old equipment without tearing down the entire network at the same time.
