The ‘Circular Economy’ is defined as the model of production and consumption which is different from the ‘linear economy’. The linear economy has dominated society for past so many years and is unsustainable. So the circular economy talks about the fact that we simply cannot take the resources from the ground and post using the product of those resources we dispose the waste and do not think about the cumulative effect of these actions. Circular Economy is used to describe the closing loop, in which the resources are used for as long duration as possible in order to extract the maximum value from them and later on regenerate the materials at the end of its service life. In short it can be said that the motive of circular economy is to uses the resources for the longest duration and making sure that the resources can be reused for as long as possible. It is the concept of zero waste economy.
As we know that avoiding the production of waste is not possible in industrial situations. Therefore, the engineer should think of different solutions which can reduce, eliminate or give alternative uses to the waste which has been created.
