Explain the causes and consequences of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Causes
Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that can cause illnesses such as the common cold, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).The disease has been named as Covid 19.
Effects
Negative effects
The effects are alarming and adverse. Following are some of negative effects:
1.It affects the breathing and lungs of people by blocking oxygen supply to brain thus resulting in death . In fact all over the world it has resulted in deaths of large number of people.
2. It results in coughing , fever, sneezing, diarrhoea and gastro problems etc.
3. Socially it has forced people to avoid social gatherings, maintain social distancing, wear masks, wash hands with sanitizers to prevent the spread of disease.
4. It has resulted in lock downs and shut downs in different countries resulting in putting a stop on all economic and commercial activities.
5. The economies are suffering huge losses, Growth rate has slipped down, unemployment has become too high.
6. Governments have announced stimulus packages to help citizens and this has put additional pressure on the government.
7. Schools, colleges, gyms , malls, offices, business organizations have been closed as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of disease.
8.Due to stoppage of economic activity, there is fear of global recession setting soon.
9. Medical staff, law and order personnel, people dealing with supplying essential commodities are the only professions which are saved but have huge responsibility to cope up with this pandemic.
10. The WHO has announced big relief packages for poor and developing countries due to this pandemic.
Positive effects
1. Due to lock downs and less human intervention with nature, the pollution has reduced considerably. Skies have become clear, river and sea water, air has become pollution free.
2. People are locked in homes and amidst the atmosphere of fear, they are spending times with their families and pursuing their hobbies.
3. Animals have returned to their natural habitats.At many places dolphins have returned to clean water.
