Describe the differences between the use of the binomial and Poisson distribution. Provide one example of how each can be used and explain why you selected the example
Solution:
. Both poission and binomial distributions are discrete distributions however both are utilized to decide probabilities in various conditions.
.If we use poission distribution for unlimited number of trials of an event,whereas we use binomial distribution for number of attempts of an event is fixed.
.when we have a problem,where there are infinitely many possible in poission distribution where there are only two possible outcomes in Binomial distribution.
.For example,If we use poission distribution for many possible outcomes and the number of trials is huge of we need to find the probability of error on any given page of a large thick book.Some examples are two mistake,one mistake,......10,15,100,200...........
.For example.If we use binomial distribution for only two possible outcomes and number of trials is 100 is fixed of we have to find the probability of a certain number of heads in a limited number of tosses of an unbiased coin.
