Network File System is used as a scalable database, it uses a distributed system which typically has one server and many clients. It enables a user to store and update files on a computer which is remote.

Uses:

1. Low cost

Low cost:

Using NFS protocol the cost is reduced, the performance is increased and is easily mangeable.

Reduces storage:

NFS is used to improve storage which is also IP-based storage, as the user can store files elsewhere without the need of other external storage devices. Using VMware the data storage is improved. This virtual machine acts as a cloud system or a platform which can provide virtual storage. Multiple storage platforms can be used too.

Advantages over SMB or CIFS:

SMB is Server Message Block which is used to read and write files over a LAN( Local Area Network)

CFS is Common Internet File System is a form of SMB which focuses on one part of it

NFS is ->

Since it uses the TCP/IP network and is able to send blocks of data over the network no matter how long is the distance and it automatically resolves issues occurring in bandwidth. Many software and hardware companies use this.

With VMware which is a cloud, it’s easier to provide solutions regarding storage at minimal cost. It has increased storage utilization, and also is easily manageable.
