Computer Software Applications in Transportation Engineering:

1.CAPSSI (Comprehensive Analysis Program for Singly Signalized Intersection) : Using this software application we can do Level of Service (LOS) in lab. Using field data collected in lab we can find LOS. We can analyse only one intersection at a time in this application. For quick review ,this software is preferable.

2. HCS : It is similar to CAPSSI and it is based on Highway Capacity Manual. Compared to CAPSSI , HCS can analyse several intersections at one strecst. For detailed analysis HCS is better than CAPSSI.

3. TCDI (Traffic Control Device Inventory): It is used to track sign, markings and legends critical to be safe, efficient movement of traffic on roadway.

4. SIS (Sign Inventory System): It is useful in conducting lab work. It is very useful in management of traffic sign effectively and efficiently.

5. PASSERIV : To conduct signal warrant and signal timing analysis, this software is very useful.

6. TRANSYT 7F : It is also similar kind of software as PASSERIV and manages the traffic signal timings effectively.

7. SIDRA: It is another software used to determine Level of service at intersections.

8. TDPI (Traffic Data Input program): This software used to collect, store and analyse the traffic data.

9. TrafficVision: It is designed to manage traffic monitoring of highway for different highway department. It has many advantages. It improves incident detection and response time. It turns operating cameras into highway sensors so that it will notify the incidents while collecting data.
