How are contemporary political geographies changing in the 21st century and how are they different from previous transformations, such as the post world war 2 period? what evidence is there of these changes in your region and in your daily life?
Contemporary political geographies are focusing more on development and how the economy can function in the way that the geography plays an advantage to GDP growth rate. For example politicians increasingly focus on tourism as a growth factor if geographical area is unique and rare. Geographical areas are being unionised such as in the case of European Union in order to compete in terms of trade.
Whereas in the previous circumstances, there was more colonised power prevalent even after world war 2, this power diminished over the years and local states and governments started to take control over various regions. Over here the relationship between states and former colonies played an important role in the transformation of power.
In my daily life and region there are several instances of more international trade and treaties, more reliance on capital as a form of growth, rather than labour, more broadcasts of the governments by using social media platforms and the improved relationship between governments and its people in order to reduce conflicts and help resolve issues in timely manner.
