Answer: CSR activities shall be included in annual report of a financial year. The CSR committee shall provide a statement regarding implementation and monitoring of policy measures.

CSR Expenditure: Company shall spend min 2% every year of its net profits in preceding 3 years. This net profit includes profit recorded in P&L statement. It shall exclude overseas profits + dividends from other companies in India.

Implementaion of CSR Activities: It is headed by chairman. It may be implemented directly by the company or with the help of NGOs, NPOs etc. MHIPL employees may volunteer in such activities.

What not is CSR activity?

  1. activity performed in pursuance of business purposes
  2. programs that benefited only employee of MHIPL and their relatives
  3. contribution to any political party

What are some CSR activities listed under Schedule VII of Companies Act, 2013

  1. taking measures to reduce hunger, poverty, malnutrition and contribute to sanitation and preventive healthcare.
  2. promotion of education, gender equality, empowering women, setting up homes etc.
  3. protection of national heritage, restoration of buildings and sites of importance
  4. ensuring environment sustainability, ecological balance, protection of flora and fauna, animal welfare, agroforestry, conservation of natural resources etc.
