1. The data represent the ages of our Presidents at the time they were first inaugurated. 57 61 57 57 58 57 61 54 68 51 49 64 50 48 65 52 56 46 54 49 51 47 55 55 54 42 51 56 55 51 54 51 60 62 43 55 56 61 52 69 64 46 54 47 70 (a) Were the data obtained from a population or a sample? Explain your answer. (b) What was the age of the oldest President? (c) What was the age of the youngest President? (d) Construct a frequency distribution for the data. (Use your own judgement as to the number of classes and class size.) (e) Construct a histogram for the data (f) Are there any peaks in the distribution? (g) Identify any possible outliers. (h) Write a brief summary of the nature of the data as shown in the frequency distribution.
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO DO E,F,G,AND H. THANK YOU
a) The data is obtained from Population.
Because Population contains all information about the variable here our variable is Age of the president and it contains all ages of presidents from the starting period.
And the sample of data is a few values from the above population.
b) The Oldest age of the president is 70 because it is the maximum value of data
c) The Youngest age of the president is 42 which is the minimum of data
d) Frequency Distribution
Age Group | Frequency |
---|---|
40 - 45 | 2 |
45 - 50 | 8 |
50 - 55 | 16 |
55 - 60 | 9 |
60 - 65 | 7 |
65 - 70 | 3 |
Total | 45 |
e) Histogram of the Data
f) From the histogram and above frequency distribution the peaks of the age group between 50 to 55 age group means most of the president ages are between 50-55 and that counts 16
h) The given data follows the Normal distribution
because the nature of the curve of the histogram is bell-shaped
and also mean = median = mode = 55
i.s data is symmetric so it follows the normal distribution
