is the conjugate base for this question NaNO2 and is the acid HNO2?

is the conjugate base for this question NaNO2 and is the acid HNO2?

Solutions

Expert Solution

NaNO2 Na+ + NO2-

Hence, NaNO2 dissociates completely to give Na+ and NO2- ions. The conjugate base for NaNO2 is NO2-, because when NO2- goes into the water it abstracts the proton to give HNO2 and hence it is the conjugate base.
