According to the American Council on Education (ACE), women now represent 57 percent of college and university student enrollment. What are the perceived long term ramifications, if any, about more women than men earning degrees
This is a complex situation where women are opting degrees at higher percentages than men. Earning degrees give more opportunity in job – higher post, bigger improvement, and better standard of living. In the long-run all these will be for women. Societies in future are trending towards female dominated.
This may create ramifications as below:
No.1) Job disparity: Most of the higher posts in future will be for women. Men will be working under them, which they may not like and create conflicts.
No.2) Flexibility: Men are more flexible than women because of biological factors. Degree can’t change such flexibility. Therefore, if a job requires immediate action (like moving and staying in an outstation) men will be preferred more than women; but may not be available because of degree.
No.3) Social system: It will break in the future – there will be increasing number of working lady (job or business) and home-based male. Ladies are more competent in maintaining family and home, which may not be featured in future.
No.4) Birth issue: This would be a huge issue in future – females may not want to become a mother since they are in working. This will create population problem for the whole country.
