8- describe the various mechanisms of tumor promotion and the features that they share in common and those that distinguish from one another

Solutions

Expert Solution

  1. Inhibition of the apoptosis : Apoptosis is programmed cell death which helps to remove the aged as well as damaged cells out of the body. Cancer cells are damaged cell and that should be removed from the body but unfortunately due to the inhibition of apoptosis the number of cacerous cells increases in the body. Unlike mutagens it act on the 3’ UTR region of the cell’s DNA.
  2. Effect of mutagens : Mutagens cause the change in the DNA converting proto oncogenes to oncogens. This cancer causing genes make the proliferation of cancer cells unconditionally. Mutagens such as chemical agents, radiation such as ionic and non-ionic etc. Mutagens act on promoter and that is a major difference from then inhibitors of apoptosis.

All the meachanisms are similar because they allow to cancer cell metastasis as well as uncontrolled growth and proliferation.

Hope it will helpful to you. Thank you

Describe the common features shared by GPCRs and RTKs in their signaling mechanisms, focusing on how they are able to amplify signals. Specifically, how is the signal from one binding event (i.e., the binding of one ligand molecule to an individual receptor) propagated and strengthened? Describe one difference in how GPCRs and RTKs transform extracellular signals into intracellular responses.

Describe the various mechanisms for avoiding and controlling congestion employed by TCP, namely: slow start, congestion avoidance phase and reaction to congestion. Further, assume that a TCP connection at steady state with AIMD parameters alpha = 1 Byte and beta = 0.5 is currently sending 107B of data (i.e., congestion_window = 107B). Assuming no congestion drops occur in the next three rounds of transmission, what is the congestion-window in the next three rounds? If there is a congestion drop after...
