Using your own words, please explain the main assumption of situational theories of leadership. Give examples to back up your explanations.
The situational theories of leadership define the leadership in the way that makes decisions basis the situation prevailing at the moment:
Basis the various situational leadership theories such as Hersey and Blanchard, Goleman, Normative theory, below are the main assumption of situational theories of leadership:
1- Leaders use the leadership style basis the situation and that depends on the matureness of the leader. Example- A calm minded person (leader) will not lose patience even if the situation is worst like business making losses or sports team losing the game.
2- The decision making under situational leadership depend on the factors like how prepared a leader is and how much determination he/she holds to tackle the situation. Example- Canadian Prime minister announced the remedies and actions to tackle the COVID-19 situation for not only Canadians but for every resident.
3- Situational leadership makes the base strong the leader-follower relationship to make cohesive team efforts. Example- A senior manager inviting an intern to speak up on team meeting event and supporting on his speech delivery
4- Leadership under situational theories is not supposed to be autocratic and rather believe in the logic of fact and circumstance-based evidencing. Example- A leader discusses a task with the person he/she will assign the task to. This is to get the job-doer be prepared.
