In APA referencing, how do you reference a lab manual?
The "Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association" sixth edition provides guidelines for citing lab manuals.
In-Text Citation:
To include information from a lab manual in the text, put the citation in parentheses.
Insert the name of the issuer of the manual, it can be a company name, a college department or a demonstrator’s surname and add a comma and then list the publication year, such as (Department of Chemistry, 2014) or (Jane, 2014)
If the name of the issuer is mentioned in text in a text, omit the name from the parentheses.
References Page
To include the in-text citation on the References page:
Start with the name of the issuer of the manual, such as a company, a college department or an instructor.
In case of an individual, list the last name, a comma and initials then add a period.
Then insert the publication year in parentheses (2014). Add a period.
Next, put the italicized title of the manual in sentence case with a period.
Finish with the place of publication, a colon, the publisher and a period.
For example:
Department of Chemistry. (2014). Introductory Handbook of chemistry and lab manual (in italics). New York, NY: The new college.
Unknown Author
Example: Merriam-Webster's collegiate dictionary (10th ed.). (1993). Springfield, MA: Merriam-Webster.
When the article includes parenthetical citations of sources with no author named, use a shortened version of the source's title instead of an author's name.
Use quotation marks and italics as appropriate.
For example: (Merriam-Webster's, 1993).
