Marcella is a 75-year-old single woman who has had progressive diminished vision and increased difficulty with night driving. Her health care provider suspects that Marcella has a cataract and does a complete eye examination and history.

  1. During the health history, the nurse collects data that would indicate whether Marcella has any common factors that contribute to cataract development. What would some of these factors be?

  • There are so many factors that contribute to cataract development of this major is cataract is commonly seen when you get older here from the history it is found that Marcella is 75 years old. Here as client increases her age some of the proteins may clump together and start to cloud a small area of the lens,which affects the lens maing it gradually harder to see clearly in history client is having diminished vision,and difficulty with driving.so through these information we can indicate client is having cataract and it can also be due to certain other health problems such as diabetes,trauma any surgeries done in past.
  • Most common symptom of cataract is clouding of eyes,blurred or dim vision here the client is having diminished vision and difficulty in night driving,so client is having difficulty with vision at night.Sensitivity to glare and light.So these symptoms can be recogonised as significant for cataract.
  • Post operative teaching of the client undergone cataract surgery include we have to give them a verbal and written instructions of about how to protect the eye while its healing.

dvise to wear an eye shield over the surgical eye to protect it or as them to wear eyeglasses at all time,

nstruct them to wash the hands before and after touching or cleaning your eyes before and after instillation of eyedrops.

Instruct them to clean their eye as often needed and wipe using clean tissue.

Teach them that while bathing or washing hair be carefull that soap or other substances does not enter to the affected eye,advise to avoid lying on the affected eye on the night after surgery.always be sure client check her eye with her eye care provider before doing any strenuous activity.

Instruct them to contact with eyecare provider if they experience any difficulties, and advise to tae medications appropriately,eat healthy foods.

These are some of the major instructions to be followed after undergoing cataract surgery.
