Conservation of energy states that Energy neither
created nor destroyed, It can only be converted to one form to
another.
But there are certain
limitations and drawbacks to this concept.
- It gives a definite relationship between the energy absorbed
and work done by the system, but it does not tell about the
direction of energy flow
Example: The hot body cools by releasing energy but the reverse
is not possible.
- According to the conservation of energy the energy of an
isolated system remains constant during a specifies change of sate.
But it does not tell whether that specifies change including
chemical reaction can occur spontaneously i.e whether it is
feasible
- It states that energy in one form can be converted to
equivalent energy in another form but it does not tell that energy
can not be completely converted into an equivalent amount of work
without producing some change elsewhere
- Some forms of energy are very hard to measure especially energy
lost through friction, heat, and sound
- According to this law, every conservation is possible like
Work ------->Heat and Heat------->Work, But
practically, Work ------->Heat(Possible) and
Heat------->Work(Not always)
Hope this helps
