1. Explain the difference between linear, radial, and angular acceleration and identify which "G" force vector is most significant in normal aircraft flight.
ACCELERATION :- The object under motion can undergo a change in its speed. The measure of the rate of change in its speed along with direction with respect to time is called acceleration. .The SI unit for acceleration is metre per second squared (m⋅s−2).it is a vector quantity.
TYPES OF ACCELERATION:
1) LINEAR ACCELERATION :- a change in speed while direction remains constant will produce linear acceleration.
some of the examples are: arrested landings,parachute opening shock,etc.
FORMULA: linear acceleration, a=dv/dt.
2)RADIAL ACCELERATION :-Radial acceleration is basically a type of linear acceleration.A change in direction of travel while speed remains constant will produce radial acceleration.In a uniform circular motion, The acceleration of the object is along the radius, directed towards the center” is called radial acceleration.
FORMULA: ar=v2/r.
where, r=radius of turn.
3)ANGULAR ACCELERATION :-Angular acceleration results when angular velocity changes,when change in speed of rotation occurs.The distance covered will be along the curved path. (circumference of a circle), The velocity involved is angular velocity
FORMULA :- acceleration=change in angular velocity/time required for that change.
α=dω/dt . unit is radian/sec2
G-Force:--
The gravitational force equivalent, or, more commonly, g-force, is a measurement of the type of force per unit mass. When the g-force is produced by the surface of one object being pushed by the surface of another object, the reaction force to this push produces an equal and opposite weight for every unit of an object's mass.
One g is the force per unit mass due to gravity at the Earth's surface.
for RADIAL ACCELERATION "G" force equation is:G=V2/32r.
for LINEAR ACCELERATION "G" Force equation is G=((V2)2 - (V1)2)/32*t
for ANGULAR ACCELERATION there is no "G" force.
so,for a normal aircraft flight, the linear acceleration "g" will be more significant.
