People move across borders due to a number of pull and push factors.
Pull factors are those factors that force migrants out of the native country and lead to emigration. Push factors are those factors that attract migrants and lead to immigration.
Some push factors are as follows:
1) Unemployment ,underemployment, and low wages in the native country are the main reasons that compel people to move across borders.
2) Lack of educational opportunities in the native country also forces the students to migrate to developed countries with better educational and career opportunities.
3) Poor living conditions due to poor infrastructure in under-developed countries also compell people to migrate to developed countries.
4) Natural disasters, droughts, and famine also compell people to migrate to safer countries.
5) Conflict and war like situations also compell people to migrate to safer areas.
6) Marriages also play an important role in emigration. People are compelled to move to the country so that they can live with their married partners.
Some pull factors include the following:
1) Employment opportunities attract people and motivate them to migrate to countries with higher demand of labor.
2) People also migrate to developed countries in a hope for better health care.
3) People migrate to developed countries to avail different educational opportunities.
4) Countries with beautiful landscapes also attract people across borders. Recreation is therefore important reason leading to migration
