Please explain as clearly as possible to the following questions:
1. What are the risks of predictive genetic testing?
2. What is your opinion on genetic testing for a child's natural talents?
3. Can infertile people be allowed to use cloning to have their own children?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1. Predictive genetic testing is used to predict the future risk of any disease by doing some genetic tests in a person having no symptoms for the disease.

Risks:

A) When genetic tests are done some extra chromosome may be found or some important chromosome may be missing and this might bring anxiety to the person even though he/she might not have any sign of it. And the other thin is sometimes what can kind of disease can occur is hard to tell and sometimes if the disease is known it has no treatment and this will only lead to stress. Though when all the chromosomes are healthy and without any mutation the person may feel relieved.

B) Sometimes some secretes of the family like adoption are revealed that might cause havoc in the life of people who dont know about it.

2) Genetic testing for Child's future talent:

According to me this has both pros and cons-

Pros- If we know about the child's future talents, we can prepare him or her from the early learning stages so that they can excel in their talents.

Cons- I actually consider the cons more cause of we know that this is what the future talents of the child are it might be possible that the child may develop interest into something else when the child comes to the world and explore it then the child will get to know new things and might learn something that might not match into his or her pre described talents. Parents might limit the choices for their kids if they knew that this is the talent of their child and the child may not want to explore anything and accept the fact that he or she is born to do what their parents have told amd may be the child may not excel in it and will never get a sense of fulfillment with that talent.

3. Human cloning for infertile couples: It is might be possible but it is banned in most of the countries because a clone would be the exact copy of its parents. It might look identical to its parents, might carry same mutations and genetic disorders, might even have the same intelligence level. So human clonning is considered unethical.
