Solutions

Expert Solution

According to U.S. Department of Treasury as of June 2019, Foreign countries held a total of 6.636 trillion US Dollars in U.S, Treasury securities of which 3.856 Trillion USD were in T-bonds and notes. Total National debt was 21.58 trillion $ in 2018 and rose to 22.03 trillion USD as of June 2019. So proportion of T-bonds and notes held by foreign government = 3.856/22.03=17.503%

The top ten countries and their relative percentage is:

(in Billions of $) Relative %
Japan 1122.9 26.36%
China 1112.5 26.115%
United Kingdom 341.1 8.007%
Brazil 311.7 7.317%
Ireland 262.1 6.153%
Switzerland 232.9 5.467%
Luxembourg 231.0 5.423%
Cayman Islands 226.6 5.319%
Hong Kong 215.6 5.061%
Belgium 203.6 4.779%

                                Total= 4260 billions $,                Total=100%

I made this from the data commonly available. Hope it helps
