In 2015, Forbes magazine listed Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, as the richest person in the United States. His personal wealth was estimated to be $76 billion. Given that there were about 322 million people living in the United States that year, how much could each person have received if Gates’s wealth had been divided equally among the population of the United States? (Hint: A billion is a 1 followed by 9 zeros while a million is a 1 followed by six zeros.)
Which group in each of the following pairs has the higher poverty rate: (a) children or people age 65 or over? (b) African Americans or foreign-born noncitizens? (c) Asians or Hispanics?
Ans:-
Q-1 :-Each person receiving = Total income of bills gates/ total population
=$76000000000 / $322000000
= $236.02484 (Rounded).
So if Gates’s wealth had been divided equally among the population of the United States then each person Of US get $236.02484 .
Q-2 :- As per my research From group of pair highest poverty rate:-
(A) Children
*Explanation:-
Total group size of Americans childrens is 73.3 million people and Group members living below the poverty line is11.9 million people so Group poverty rate is 16.2%.
so American childrens are far more poverty rate than 65 year or above.
(B) Foreign born non citizens
*Explanation:-
Total group size of foreign born non citizens are 23.5 million people and Group members living below the poverty line are 4.1 million so as Group poverty rate is17.5%
The poverty rate among foreign born not U.S. citizens is a 17.5%. Non-U.S. citizens live in the country are often forced to live and work .so that means they are working at very low paying jobs. so they are highly proverty than african Americans.
(C) Hispanics
Explanation:-
Total group size of Hispanics is 60.0 million people and Group members live below the poverty line is 10.5 million so group poverty rate is 17.6%.
Hispanics Americans are far more likely than the Asians to live below the poverty line. Of the 60 million Americans who identify as Hispanic, 17.6% live in poverty, compared to 10.1% Asians.
