Define nuclear family and briefly describe its evolution. Can the nuclear family be called the "traditional family form" in the United States today? Justify your answer with two examples drawn from the chapter.

What is a social movement? Describe the four types of social movements and give examples of each. In your view, which type of social movement has the most potential for positive social change, and why?

1)Nuclear Family- A nuclear family refers to group which is included with a Single parents and their children. Nuclear family basically based on a married couple. A neuclear family can have any numbers of children. Some nuclear family only allows biological child but other nuclear families can consider a stepchild in their family.

Evolution-  George p.Murdock, a Yale and Pittsburgh were used the Term ''Nuclear Family'' for the first time in 1949.This term was used to refer a different number of things. In that period ''Neuclear family'' reffered to family where a married couples and their child(Adopted or biological) were living together.

Traditional Family form- . The traditional structure of a family in United state was included with Two married couples who cares for each others and their biological or adopted children. This family structure was created at the time of birth and it was same for so many years.

But today family structure has been changed. Nowadays United state's family structure has influenced by Single-parenting, Same sex marriage, Social movements and teenage pregnancies. So nowadays nuclear family structure has been changed for other influencing factors.Stay-at-home father is the new creation of family structure. So nowadays nuclear family can't be called the traditional family form.

Example

Richa and John was a parent who lived together with their child Ket.Their family structure was based on a Nuclear family. But nowadays Ket is living with her same sex wife.This is an example that describing nuclear family is not called as the Traditional family in United state today.

Another example is Livano had lived with her husband and her daughter. But today she is a single parent and living her life with her daughter. She was separed from her nuclear family for getting Divorce from her husband.So we can say that family life is changing in United states today.

2)Social Movement- Social movement is considered as a group action. A social movement can be happened for doing some effective changes in the Society.It can change the values of social norms and also can change the society's structure.

Four types of Social Movements

Revolutionary Social Movement- Revolutionary movement is a social movement that claming the complete changes of a society. It is carrying a revolution. This movement can be done by a large group of people and the effect of this movement is longterm and can effect every citizen in a state.

Example-  Women's Liberation movement is the example of Revolutionary social movement.

Redemptive Social Movement- Redemptive Social movement is a movement that wants to do the personal transformation of an individual. It basically a religious changes for a group of people and an individual.

Example- Spreading Christianity is the example of Redemptive social movement.

Alternative Social movement- Alternative social movement is a movement that claiming some limited social changes. It targets a small group of people and want to change their attitude and some specific behaviors.

Example-  Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is the Example of Alternative Social movement.

Reformative Social Movement- Reformative Social movement is a movement which can occur between an individual group or sometimes at the Societal group. Claiming changes of this movement can be minor or Radical.

Example- Marriage Equality is an example of Reformative Social movement.

Conclusion- Among all these social movements Revolutionary social movement has the most potential for positive social change.

Because this Social movement can bring a complete change and the effect of the changes is all over a state and effets of this kind of change is long term. So we can say that Revolutionary Social movement has the most potential.
