A behavioural health provider has to integrate physical and mental health in a patient with depression.Depression is linked to weight gain .Depression often results in people not wanting to do anything and lead a mundane life.This sedentary life makes them susceptible to either over eating or starving.The chemical imbalances in the brain disturb the apetite in a patient.Over eating and depression are intertwined.According to everyday health article it says that the part of the brain which is resposible for emotion is controlled the limbic system which also controls the apetite and when this part of the brain gets disturbed they tend to get depressed and apetite gets disturbed as well.When depression sets in a patient either over eats or does not eat at all.In depression when there is heart gain it can also lead to heart problems and sugar problems due to obesity.This is called bulimina nervosa which leads to over eating and induced vomiting.To treat a patient with depression and weight gain one can assist them in maintaing their weight.
